Thanks for the motivation!

I've been running on the treadmill so far. I figure over the winter I'll hit my goal of 6.5mph for 45min, so in the spring I'll get a Nike+ or more likely a GPS watch and then hit the pavement. Keep up the good work!

Way to go on the running!

You go girl!!!! Thirty minutes is nothing to scoff at!!! You kicked booty! A lot of people out there cannot do that. You should be proud. By the way, if music keeps you going (and you have an ipod or a PC close to where you work out). You can download (for free) music that is high beats per minute from podrunner. That is what I use when I go out alone. It keeps you boppin along. But if you don't like techno-type music you won't like it though.

New Personal Best!

Tonight, I ran for 30 minutes straight! First time ever... in my whole life (I think). I usually do 20 minutes jogging, then walk, then jog again, etc etc, but a great song came on right around the 20 minute mark and provided a boost of energy. By the time it ended, the 30 minute mark was within reach, so I sucked it up and kept going. I know half an hour is small time for real runners, but I'm really proud to have made it this far. I feel great!

Aw!

Heh, thanks! I had an awful allergy attack, plus a wedding to attend, plus an out-of-town guest... It's amazing how fast the days (and the workouts!) get away from you!

Heh, thanks!

I usually do half an hour or so on the elliptical, then another half an hour doing whatever weight machines are free at my gym. :-) I also walk to the gym, and if I'm sitting at home in front of the TV I break out my lil' five-pound dumbbells for some arm work. My friends and I sometimes go hiking, but we haven't done that in a while... But overall, my favorite is boxing! I take a class twice a week and it's incredibly fun and an amazing workout. I even started taking yoga classes to improve my performance in boxing (I have terrible balance, and that's not good when you're throwing/ducking punches!). Of course, it helps that I'm just temping right now and have a lot of free time. Resuming a regular 9-to-5 will no doubt reduce the time I have to work out... Plus, I still have a problem staying within my calorie guidelines, so even though I exercise a lot, I'm eating a lot of those calories right back.

Silent Celebration

A few weeks ago, I was messing around with the nutrition calculator and changed my published body weight goal to 175. My REAL goal however was 178 / 70lbs lost which I accomplished today. Yeah! Since it's not an "official" goal, no Gyminee bells or whistles will go off, but I'm throwing a silent celebration for myself because I'm really proud to have made it this far.

lifestyle

Well, I am always annoyed to see Mayonese or Ketchup bottles on coffee /restaurants around the world where American customs and influences have been strong. There is nothing much disturbing than this. I live in Italy and we do have great food. But, helas, we do not the great Gym Halls and trainers you do have. I support you in the "clean sandwich campaign". I will follow your high performances..bye

Sandwich Story

I walked into a deli this week and ordered a sandwich. Chose oat bread and before I could say another word, the server chose mayonnaise from the aisle of condiments and started to smear it all around. I stopped her as quickly as my brain could register the situation, and she honestly seemed confused about why I wouldn't want that with my meal! Admittedly, I had a tiny emotional breakdown as we proceeded thru the sandwich building process. My first thought... "OMG all this work and discipline for nothing! I still look like the typical fatty who comes in here. Depressing." Next, anger and denial < Insert your own negative thoughts about the server here. I did. > My final thought... "I look good, and I feel better than I have since high school. Maybe mayo is the sandwich favorite, and she reached for it out of habit. Afterall, her job is pretty robotic." I'm sharing this antidote to remind my fellow Gyminers that losing weight is a process, a lifestyle, and a choice. You'll face "adversaries" each day because our society (and perhaps even your own family) is not conducive to living healthfully. If your mind is in the right place however, and you're educated on what your body needs to flourish, then you WILL succeed. All the best!
