Native iPhone app

The web app for the iPhone is awesome, but I’d love a native iPhone app. My gym doesn’t have wifi so its hard doing updates on the iphone. But ideally I’d like to enter data when I’m not online and have it sync later. Anything that makes it faster and easier to use Gyminee on the iPhone is appreciated. |

Great suggestion. We are very interested in a native iPhone app, and we have some very great ideas we are working on. I can’t release any information, but it is on our radar. |

Agreed. I will admit that when the Apple store opened, one of the first apps I looked for was Gyminee. Can’t wait until you guys release an iPhone app. |

Just got my 3G Iphone, only to discover that reception is crap in my gym (basement of a JCC). So Gyminee is useless on my new toy. If it wasn’t for this thread, I would’ve purchased GoLearn Fitness. Don’t make me do it guys. I’d much rather stay here. |

Can’t wait until this becomes a reality! I haven’t used gyminee for a few months, but I recently came back and would love to have it as a native app. |

what’s the timeline on the native app? Within the next two or so weeks? My school gym doesn’t have Wi-fi, and I need to keep track of my progress! |

Add me as someone who would greatly appreciate a native iPhone app as well, especially one that can store datapoints locally and upload to Gyminee whenever I next launch with a connection, for us dungeon weight room dwellers. ;) |

Add me to the list. For me it’s more a matter of tracking my nutrition when I’m away from the computer and not having to enter it all when I get home. |

Guys, listen, as much as we’d all like an iPhone app, let’s keep this sh*t in perspective: Building and refining an application in Cocoa to be used on iPhones and iPod Touches is not an easy task. This is not something you can just ‘throw together’. Any attempt to ‘throw code together’ will likely result in a crappy, buggy app that is not worth the space it consumes on our phones. Therefore, they’ve stated that a native app may be coming, so stop harassing them about it. That won’t get us a quality program any sooner. I am not a programmer but I have coded and that is some difficult stuff. Please show some patience and restrain yourselves from incessantly bugging them about it. |

With due respect to SonOfKrypton, I’d like to mention that I, too, would greatly appreciate a native app. We’re just trying to let them know what the demand is like; not rush them. |

Me too! Don’t get me wrong… the iPhone site is great – one of the only reasons I use this site over some others. |

Well, if you’re keeping a tally… count me in as well! If you need a coder or plan on making it open sourced give me a holler. I’ve already developed several apps in Cocoa. |

@all – Time for some more prodding. What features would everyone most like to see in a Gyminee native iPhone app? |

Alright….So I guess I was wrong and you guys don’t have a problem with the pressure. With that being said, native Gyminee app functions that would be awesome are: -Local storage of our exercise training history and how much we lifted or ran or biked dating back to as far as we’d like. -Charts (just like we have in our locker rooms) showing our exercise history. -A library of all exercises in the Gyminee database (just like the web app where you can access ‘Library’) with videos that link us up to the network (whether 3G or Edge or Wifi, all scaling accordingly) to stream them. -Basically everything already in the Gyminee web app. -A way to take photos directly in the Gyminee app and upload them to our accounts. -Maybe the ability to intra-iPhone chat with Gyminee buddies currently in the app on their iPhones as well? I can’t think of anything else, but I know you will receive a myriad of responses. :) |
